Multitasking Instant Cooking

Ya know what, I am eating this as brunch/breakfast. Unashamed asian.. LOL.
But seriously I picked up what I thought was a carton of Indomie from Costco. It was not Indomie. It was lord knows what brand. I have not had Indomie since circa 2000 when I first came over as a Uni student. Those days of Uni share housing and cartons of Indomie lasted about 5months. I moved out and upgraded to Korean ones!

So I thought, oh well why not? It has been more than 10 years. I had forgotten that instant noodle cooking involved multitasking. There are HOW MANY PACKETS to cut up and mix up? Times that by the two packets that I normally need - don't judge I have an appetite. So there it is.. one packet of oil and kecap manis. One packet of bumbu powder and chilli powder. ADD deep fried onions into the equation. PLUS a fried egg on top. You need fried egg on top people.

Lucky I had enlisted D to help me with the packet cutting. So frantic packet cutting, noodle in hot water tossing. Drain, mix with the sauce. Cut your powder and toss it. Deep fried onions on top. While frantically cutting powder sachet, heat oil for your fried egg. Flip the egg, toss egg on top.. sweating..

D was yelling I WANT MINEEEE... Grab another bowl. Dish out his share. Cut his noodles, chuck spoon into his bowl. Fall into couch... have another seagull child stalk you for food. Split egg to pieces and start shovelling egg into his mouth. Feed yourself... So there. Multi-tasking.

New Skincare Routine

This is my new daytime routine. This is quite a lot for me therefore please put up with it.

I was a LUCKY girl and won the SydneyShopGirl La Clinica giveaway. Look at that! Face mask and serum. WINNING! When I opened the package, the lovely essential oils hit me. Oh this is new I thought.

So I have added the La Clinica serum to my little duo in the morning. I use the serum first and then slap on the Korres Pomegranate gel and last the little sample sized Neutrogena sun block. I grabbed this from promo people at Doncaster ages ago. I have to admit that I am lazy in putting on sun block. I take the Chinese sunblock method which is not go out!

I think I have been using it for about a week? I have to report back on the effects – probably takes longer than a week. J But I do notice that my skin is clearer and heals faster. I am a bad naughty picker!

DVF for Gap Kids coming to Australia

When I was pregnant with Pickles, I thought I would be having a girl - as you would - and then my 'life was complete'. One boy and one girl.. "oarsome" I thought.
At the ultrasound we found out he was a boy. I became a pregnancy hormonal crazy lady or rather more so than normal. I held onto Ralph Lauren baby girls' clothing and cried in David Jones. True story there by the way.

Every month of so, someone will tell me that I should have another child. My response is to tell the person to wash their mouth out with soap. So no, I will never have a girl or have the desire to have another baby. There are very few moments when I go awww I wished that I had a girl. And it is usually when I see clothing that is simply adorable and gorgeous for little baby girls. Then this landed in my inbox. DVF for GapKids.. YES! Are you kidding me, I am so there. Scroll quickly and I see that it is only for girls. Once again my money is safe. But you know if I had a girl. I would so totally make her wear this dress. Maybe not the tights.

The below look is my favourite. I think it is because I would wear that jacket. LOL! Check out that jacket! WANT... And the shorts!!

The collection is available from 15th of March. I foresee women grabbing them off the rack like Stella for Target. So for those readers with daughters, I just want to let you know that having boys is really good for my wallet :)

This is why I do not do kids' birthday parties

I have not hosted a birthday party ever for my boys and do not intend to until they are about I don't know 15. When I can throw some money at the problem and take them out instead of having them in the house.

Number 1 playcentres are awful places where feral bullies and their even worse parents think it is alright to have a go at my son just for walking past. Number 2 every young kids birthday party I have ever attended has been a disaster for the actual child. One burnt his finger on the candle while his father was making a speech. Another was so grumpy and angry, she had to be put to sleep and nobody was allowed to have a 'look' at her. Number 3 have you seen Chinks hosting parties? We overcater like a monster and this costs a lot of money!

So because my lovely team mate who started the same day as me is leaving Melbourne and relocating for a few years, I had to throw a party. She had done one for everyone that was leaving the country and we had a few team members from overseas. Also wanted to show people my decking and front yard. :P Anyways, guess what. I have enough dips and lamb for another round of party. Who wants to come over? I had to stop myself from making more salad the morning of the event as I was paranoid it was not enough! Oh and another tip for myself, next time order the non-raw fish sushi! I was wolfing down sashimi like a crazy person as I did not want to waste it.

Check out the cake pops that I ordered too from Karen. How cute is that?

Another problem with yesterday's party were rude kids, grabby kids and my boy was overwhelmed when everyone who was older (basically everyone else) grabbed his bubble machine hippo and was not letting him touch it. The Chinese Tiger Mum in me wanted to grab said hippo and start attacking the other children. Take that bubble now! See above play centre reference. Mick had to yell at that same said child who decided to yell at D when she was on her way out. I think she was angry about leaving as she wanted to watch Angelina Ballerina. Lucky for grumpy Angelina Ballerina watcher it was not me as I harboured thoughts of hitting her out with my handbag. Angelina Ballerina's brother also decided he was only going to exclude D from looking at his tanks. Cue thoughts of plotting to hit him with his box of army people. There were also very well behaved children and I have to say that none of them wanted to play with rude kids either. They said no we are not playing with you anymore you are very rude! Silently pumping fists in the arm at victory. So you see, putting me in a roomful of other children and I suddenly become crazy. Not a good combination!

Vogue Forum Melbourne Bloggers Meet

This post is late! The vogue forum Melbourne bloggers meet was last Saturday. Check out our hot legs!

Quite frankly I thought that I was going to be murdered by them when we had dirty hands, naughty hands, walk walk walk and bend roll up introductions to the casual class. I mean really?! I thought to myself perhaps next time I should clam up when they are after suggestions for activities. It was like we were auditioning as extras for Illegal Blonde – Bend and Snap.

Honestly shocked that I now have the knees of an 80year old. When bending, I can no longer roll up.

Thanks to kerker for the picture!

Skinny Jeans have become Jeggings

Ok everyone knows that in fashion years. I am still stuck in 2006 right?

I bought this pair of skinny jeans before I embarked on OperationEat. OperationEat was because I had lost too much weight after having the two boys. Do not ask, just accept it and do not judge. So I am starting to think that these jeans are not jeans anymore. They are jeggings.

Halp me people. Are these jeggings or still socially acceptable?

PS ignore the Havianas as well. I was in the front yard!

The Garden: No Claw sorry!

Let's take another tour around my garden! This time sans claw - sorry!
This is a baby pink rose that has a beautiful fragrance. You will just have to take my word for it.

The name of it is The Children’s Rose so now you know why Mick bought this for our garden J. He thought that I would not notice it. I confess that I would not as I do not go outside. HAahahha I’m Chinese, I do not do sun.

So here you go, pretty flowers post for Friday. Spreading the #positivity! Happy weekend everyone. :)

Outfit Post: All black!

Very rarely am I wearing something that is not pink. :) So I had to run and take a picture to prove it!

I am wearing my black Ralph Lauren shirt dress with gold zips and the belt is tied in a double knot instead of looping it through the gold loop thingees. The one that I snatched up for about USD $50 or thereabouts. By the way if you are ever shopping from the website, always google for discount codes. You can definitely get 10% off your entire order including sale items!
I have the sleeves rolled up and cuffed as you can see. Also shoved one claw into the pocket just because I can and I never know what to do with that other dangling non-picture taking hand!

So there you go.. hiding in toilets and taking pictures for you!

My new pretty lampshade

We must sound like the biggest procrastinators with our house EVER. 4 years of discussing hey we need to put in a nicer light in the hallway. It is just a lightbulb in the ceiling! Yeah but what light? I think is partly due to my lack of vision with interior designing.

I came across this lampshade when I was browsing Ezibuy. Do not even ask why I was browsing Ezibuy. It cost $39.90 or something and shipping was $10. I tried hard to find something else I wanted on the website but there was seriously nothing! Jumped on eBay and with the right search terms came across a UK seller that had listed something very similar. Maybe the flowers were slightly different. Total price was $39, so I saved $10 just by doing that!

That's the lampshade without the light on. It arrives in flat pack and you have to just drape the flowers on yourself artistically!

Caramel Slice Reconfigured

It is done you guys! I have reconfigured the caramel slice and got one that worked for me!

Remember my first attempt at caramel slice? It was so hard that a Chinese cleaver had to be enlisted to chop the bugger up! Even then it left marks on my hands where I had to press down to karate chop it!

Some more droolllliciousss worthy pictures for you. .... As well as pics of finger prints on the chocolate. AHhaah it was claw-able. Again I failed at lining the tin. It was a pathetic attempt and seriously I need help in this! I enlisted clothes pegs to pin them down!

What I did differently from before.

Baked the biscuit crumb for only a short time of about 5minutes. It could probably do with a teensy bit longer as it was still very pale. But it beats being too hard and Angry Birds flinging worthy. I also cooked the caramel layer very briefly on the stovetop. I basically mixed all the ingredients together when the butter and sugar melted. After pouring into the tin, they went into the oven for about 8minutes. It was slightly golden but not that brown as before.

Melt your chocolate (I used dark chocolate from Aldi - Winning $ wise) with butter, pour on top. Wait patiently while it sets and inhaled it.

Don't judge: It's my fast and easy!

As you know.. or even if you do not. I do not buy packet mix, instant sauces and try to cook from scratch if I can. This includes cake mixes, Japanese curry, Indian curry (I have greatly improved in this area!)

But when it is just me and I am trying to get a quick lunch at home in between work, I am looking for fast and easy. Not fast and yummy. I bought my first frozen meal ever the other day! I can see your eyes rolling there! :P Hey unlike Light n' Easy, I do not pretend that my date will enjoy eating this.

So this is what McCain says my frozen meal should look like.

Tear it out of the box, pierce two areas with a fork. 7 and a half minutes on high in the nuker later. This is what I got. .... Appearance wise. mmmm.. I do not have high expectations for a frozen meal so this is passable. Well except for the pock marked mash. It is passable I guess! Excuse the steam flooding my camera lens.

Taste wise.. It is not bad. But really it is just steamed peas and sliced carrots. The main bit which is the veal. Actually ... what am I eating again? Lamb? The patty was ok to be honest. The crumb is passable. The lamb patty is actually minced so lord knows what is in it. I adopt the I am eating Chinese takeaway principle - Do not ask, do not look, just eat.

I think I might save my $5 next time and just have pasta with jar sauce!
